Nick Mallinson - FARS Qualified Sk8school Instructor

The London and Eastbourne Inline Skate School instructors have several years experience in several fields between them. Here you can get an overview of their skills and experience.

Formed by ICP instructors to fill the needs of Sussex Skaters in cooperation with all the authorities that count.

We are not a one man band - we are the Eastbourne Inline Skate School (Eastbourne Sk8school) formed of several instructors in 2003. In 2006 we merged with Skate instructor.com in London to form the London and Eastbourne Branches.

Sk8school (and Skateinstructor.com) are effectively a co-operative of otherwise independent skate instructors.

All instructors are at least ICP level 1 trained, with years of skating experience. We are all insured and CRB (Police checked). We don't teach beyond our qualification and therefore our insurance! We have the most experienced and qualified instructors in the Eastbourne, London and Brighton areas.

Tim Wheals the senior instructor is ICP Level 2 qualified and NSP Trainer, First Aid and CRB checked. (07940773295) England's longest serving current ICP instructor.

Laura Thompson ICP Level 1 qualified. CRB checked (07731555252) - I became a fully qualified Inline Skate Instructor in 2003. Since then I have worked for sk8school, teaching children and adults at both beginner and intermediate level. As well as skating, I am passionate about dance, sport and the outdoors and am a full time Physical Education teacher.

Nick Mallinson FARS Coach, a specialist Artistic coach/trainer on Quads with over 30 years experience taking people to the world championships and competing at the highest level!

Nick has been roller skating since the 1970s and became a fulltime professional coach in 1981 at the National Roller Skating Centre and was latterly senior coach until he left to pursue a career in IT in 1996. The rink closed in 2001.

Still involved with the sport today Nick has trained Figure and Free Skating champions and medallists at all levels (novice to senior) of the National Artistic Roller Skating Championships and has had skaters selected for International Championships including the Senior World and European Championships.

Nick has served as Coaching Officer on the national federation’s board of management of the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating (FARS). And was a founder committee member of the FARS trainers division and is very involved with grass root skating.

Today, apart from teaching roller skaters, Nick is MD of Seahaven FM a local community radio station based in Seaford. Seahaven FM has applied to Ofcom for a fulltime community radio licence and hopes to hear the outcome of the application in June this year. The station can, meanwhile, be heard via its website www.seahavenfm.com.

Ian James - ICP Level 1 Qualified - Our Southwick (Near Brighton) Instructor, qualified over 10 years ago and assists in the running of Sussex's biggest roller disco.
